Accessibility Policy

Navien Canada Inc.

1. Purpose

The purpose of this Accessibility Policy (the “Policy”) is to confirm and describe the commitment of Navien Canada Inc. (“Navien”) to providing an inclusive and accessible environment for persons with disabilities.

Navien is committed to complying with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (“AODA”) and its Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation, O. Reg. 191/11 (the “Regulation”). The objective of accessibility legislation in Ontario is to identify, remove, and prevent barriers for persons with disabilities and to ensure accessibility with respect to goods, services, facilities, accommodation, employment, buildings, structures, and premises.

Navien is committed to providing its products and services in a manner that respects the dignity and independence of persons with disabilities. Navien strives to ensure that its policies, practices, and procedures are consistent with the following principles:

  • Dignity – Services are provided in a respectful manner consistent with the individual’s needs.

  • Independence – Services support independence while respecting safety and personal privacy.

  • Integration – Persons with disabilities are able to access the same services, in the same place, and in a similar manner as other customers.

  • Equal Opportunity – Persons with disabilities are given the same opportunity as others to obtain, use, and benefit from Navien’s goods and services.

Navien is committed to providing a barrier-free environment for clients, suppliers, business partners, employees, and visitors who enter our premises, access our information, or rely on our services.


2. Accessibility Training

Navien provides accessibility training to all employees and other individuals who interact with the public or who are involved in the development of company policies, as required by the AODA.

Training includes:

  • The purpose of the AODA and the requirements of the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation.

  • How to interact and communicate with persons with various types of disabilities.

  • How to interact with persons who use assistive devices or who require the assistance of a service animal or support person.

  • How to use any equipment or devices available on Navien’s premises that may assist in providing goods or services to persons with disabilities.

  • What to do if a person with a disability is having difficulty accessing Navien’s goods or services.

Training is provided as soon as practicable after hiring and whenever there are changes to applicable legislation or Navien’s policies. Navien maintains records of the training provided, including the dates on which training was delivered and the number of individuals trained.


3. Communication

Navien will communicate with persons with disabilities in ways that take into account their individual accessibility needs.

Employees are expected to consider how persons with various disabilities may communicate and to adapt their approach accordingly. Where appropriate, employees will ask clients how best to communicate with them.

Navien is committed to providing accessible telephone service. Employees will communicate in clear and plain language and will offer alternative methods of communication where telephone communication is not suitable.

Accessible formats and communication supports will be provided upon request and in a timely manner, taking into account the person’s accessibility needs.


4. Assistive Devices, Service Animals and Support Persons

Navien is committed to serving persons with disabilities who use assistive devices to obtain, use, or benefit from our goods and services. Employees will accommodate the use of assistive devices wherever possible.

Persons with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal are welcome to access those areas of Navien’s premises that are open to the public or other third parties, unless otherwise excluded by law.

Navien also welcomes persons with disabilities who are accompanied by a support person. A person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be permitted to enter Navien’s premises with their support person and will not be prevented from having access to that support person while on the premises.


5. Notice of Temporary Disruption

Navien will provide notice in the event of a planned or unexpected disruption to facilities or services typically used by persons with disabilities.

Such notice will include:

  • The reason for the disruption

  • The anticipated duration

  • A description of alternative facilities or services, if available

Notice will be provided through appropriate channels, including posted notices at affected locations and, where appropriate, on Navien’s website.


6. Accessible Emergency Information

Navien is committed to providing publicly available emergency information in an accessible format upon request.

Navien will also provide individualized workplace emergency response information to employees with disabilities when necessary and in accordance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation.


7. Accessible Documents and Billing

Navien is committed to providing accessible documents, including invoices and other customer communications, upon request.

Accessible formats or communication supports will be provided in a timely manner, taking into account the individual’s accessibility needs, and at no additional cost beyond the regular charge for such documents.


8. Privacy and Confidentiality

Information regarding an individual’s disability is personal and confidential and will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy legislation. Such information will only be disclosed as necessary and with appropriate consent.


9. Feedback Process

Navien welcomes and appreciates feedback regarding the accessibility of our products, services, policies, and procedures.

Feedback may be submitted by telephone, email, mail, or in person. Accessible formats and communication supports are available upon request.

All feedback will be reviewed, and responses will be provided in a timely manner.
